Rare Opportunity for a Trainee or Apprentice Machinery Safety Technician

Sittingbourne based but site work throughout London and the South East, including some of East Anglia

An enhanced DBS (previously CRB) check will be carried out before an offer is made

Minimum qualifications: GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English

Visa sponsorship is not available, so applications can only be considered from permanent residents with the unrestricted right to work in the UK

Machinery Safety Solutions Ltd (known as MSS) is a Sittingbourne based business specialising in health and safety compliance for woodworking and metalworking machinery and workshops.  MSS is a long-established business with a great reputation in both education and industry.

An opportunity has arisen for a trainee Safety Technician (with the option of a formal apprenticeship for applicants aged 18 – 24). Applications are not restricted to those who qualify for an apprenticeship: the important requirement is a serious commitment to training to become a competent technician by the end of the training period or apprenticeship.

Full on-the-job training and mentoring will be given and it is anticipated that a permanent job offer will be made at the end of the training period, provided that the person has proven their knowledge, competence and work ethic.

The business has its office base in central Sittingbourne but the role will largely be carried out at customer sites across the country.  Site work involves safety inspections of machinery, dust and fume extraction systems, and workshop environments, along with upgrade work to machinery and equipment to ensure compliance with current safety regulations. A thorough knowledge of those regulations will be required, so a commitment to home study after hours will be essential.

Some office-based support is also a requirement of the role.
